Serial Storage Architecture:    a serial transport protocol used to attach storage devices. Invented by Ian Judd of IBM in 1990, as an alternative to parallel SCSI, it was overtaken by the more widely adopted Fibre Channel protocol. By sequence, it is an early serial storage networking protocols and is most similar to FC-AL.
