Cost (ITILv3): The amount of money spent on a specific Activity, IT Service, or Business Unit. Costs consist of real cost (money), notional cost such as people's time and Depreciation.

Cost (ITILv2): Amount of expenditure, actual or notional, attributable to a specific activity, service or business unit. When considering pricing, the cost may be the full cost, calculated as a total cost of ownership, including depreciation and planned renewal, or the marginal cost of providing the service now, based upon the investment already made.
